Warning: Be very careful not to stick anything down in your dog’s or puppy’s ears.
You see scissors in the second picture clipping the hair a bit shorter. In the fourth picture she is using surgical clamps. These grab and lock for you. Then twist and pull gently. You can do this with smaller sections of the ear hair. It seems to go easier with larger clumps.
